If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”

Blessed Beyond Measure!

April 2018 newsletter
To start the month off, we had a group from Vetter Health of Omaha, NE come join us for a house build.

The lady we had the opportunity to build for was a single elderly lady who had been diagnosed with cancer about two years ago. The doctor told her that she should seek a more sanitary place to live than her 8x12 house she lived in now. Her bathroom was a shelter with no roof or privacy.

By the end of the week, she was given a new, clean bathroom and a house she could call home. We kind of wondered what she would do with that much room until we had dedication on the last day.

Her family showed up that lives in the area and a large family she has. There were 30 some people who showed up to dedicate the home. Her kids and grandkids walked in the house and broke down in tears to see what Grandma had been given. What I learned that week was, no matter what you are diagnosed with in life, you never give up.

She taught me that as we walk through life, it is our legacy that we leave behind that matters. And by watching her throughout the day, she was leaving a huge legacy amongst her family and me. She was always smiling and willing to give a hug when needed. So, thank you Lorencia for this life lesson and thank you to the Vetter team for coming to help this lady and her family.

As the week went on we got to have times of sharing amongst the group in the evenings. One of the ladies heard our need for shoes for the kids and said by the end of next week we will have shoes. She was going to go home and have a three day shoe drive.

That same week, Kelly and I had the opportunity to fly and pick up a donated bus that had been given to the ministry. When we arrived we got to see the fruits of the shoe drive. In three days, around 300 pairs of shoes had been donated.

As we had lunch and got to say our thank yous to the group, a lady in the group was prompted to give a donation. She had just received a check from her company for 15 years of service and was prompted by the Holy Spirit to give it to us so we could buy more shoes for the kids.

It Gets Better!

On the same day, some friends from Sioux Falls, SD drove down with a trailer full of fire fighting equipment that had been donated.

We received the keys to the bus and filled it with shoes and fire equipment. We are going to donate the equipment to the fire departments in San Luis, Mexico.

By the end of the day the bus was full, with just enough room for our suitcase. Kelly and I spent three days on the road. We are grateful for so many people who help the ministry meet the needs of the needy.

You are all so very important and all we can give back is a huge thank you.

Please pray for us as we prepare for the youth group coming in June. Pray for the youth as they prepare their hearts to come and serve.

Also, please pray for continued support. We are about 700 pairs of shoes short for our shoe giveaway in the fall.

Love you all,
Curt and Kelly VanEkeren
