In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Another Awesome Month!

Can anyone believe that we have gone through 2018 and are already about a month into 2019? It seems like yesterday that we had groups visiting and now we have built two homes and are scheduled to build 5 more between now and April. We had the pleasure to have a group here from Nebraska City, NE two weeks ago.

What an awesome week we experienced!

As we started the home on Monday, we arrived to the greeting of three young ladies heading out the gate to school. The Mother was nowhere to be found. We learned she was working and could not get time off.

The girls got up every morning, fended for themselves, and got themselves off to school. As the week went on, they started to warm to the idea of what was taking place. By midweek the ladies in our group headed back to the house to prepare dinner for us.

The men stayed a little longer to finish a few projects and clean up the tools. As we closed the gate, we turned to see the youngest girl standing next to the house giving it a bear hug. Her face was flat against the siding. I don't think the house experienced the moment, but we sure did. The week ended with a great celebration with the whole family.

Thank you for all who came to make this house build possible. It was surely a special week of making new friends and rekindling old friendships.

A Family Of Seven
Finally Has Their Home!

This past week, our friends from the Sundance RV Park built a home for a family of seven.
It was a good week and the family was truly blessed.

The Light & Love Of
Christ Is Shared

As groups come and go, I am always amazed at the love and the light they share wherever they go. It brings me back to scripture in John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Jesus came as the light of the world and gave us examples on how to serve, love and show compassion. And then he gives all believers a monumental responsibility in Matthew 5:14-16. “ You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

We have been handed the baton. We are to be the light wherever we go. I like how Jesus uses a lamp as a description, not a flood light. We are not to be blinding, but a warm and subtle lamp. So a huge thank you for letting your little light shine. As stated in Matthew 5:16, it brings all the glory to our Father in heaven.

We are in need of a few men to help with a home build happening April 8th through 12th. If you are interested in helping you can email us at info@christiansinmexico.org, or message us on Facebook, Instagram, or through the website!

Also, a huge thank you to everyone who gave to our year-end fundraising. We came very close to reaching that goal. God is good!

Please keep us in your prayers as we have 5 more homes on the schedule between now and April. In February, we will be doing two homes in the same week. So your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Love you all,
Curt and Kelly VanEkeren
