Youth With A
Servants Heart
We had the honor of having the youth from First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls here for a week of ministry at the orphanage. First of all, a huge thank you to all the parents for allowing your young adults to come. It was an incredible week of worship, bible study, and fellowship.
The youth came with servant hearts. They loved and worked the whole week. One day we had a pool party planned. We invited the orphanage and was told by the director that she would need permission before her kids could leave.
She felt the odds would be against them going. She reported that they would be allowed to go for their first outing in 3 years!
We were elated and so were the kids at the orphanage. They showed up and I could not help but giggle at the laughter and joy I saw in this group of youth. The counselors who came with, had on their jeans and work smocks. It was not too long before the kids drug them in to the water, fully clothed.
The counselors should have known better! As we sent them home to the orphanage, it strengthened my opinion that we need to invest in our youth today, every way we can. I could not be more proud of the young adults that spent the week with us.
You are an inspiration and your parents and Church can be very proud of you. The director told me one day, “ these kids that have come to serve are very special. They have brought joy and laughter back to our hallways.” They sure are special. Please come again.
We ask you to keep us in your prayers this summer as we are getting our students ready for school in August. We had five graduate this year and they will be moving on to the universities.
There are three new students added, and the costs are not going down. Also, please keep our need for monthly support in your prayers as well.
Love you all,
Curt and Kelly
