James 2:15-17  Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

We were a couple days away from starting our 3rd home build of the year, and I stopped to drop some supplies off for the upcoming week into the trailer.  I greeted Rosa that morning like I always do, and went to open the trailer door.  I stopped to look at her family's new kitchen they are adding to their house.  Rosa then asked me this question, “If no groups are coming, who is paying for the houses?”  I explained that we had some year end gifts that covered a part of the cost of the three homes we had planned on building.  The rest we paid for from the general fund and when we begin any more homes after the third home, we will pay from the general fund.  “Is that a good thing?” she asked.  I explained the funds come in and go to categories like education, support, food, and the general fund.  She then asked me something that thrilled my heart.  “Can I write a letter to all the supporters?”  Of course, I said.   I think that would be great.
So today you are going to read a letter from a very dear friend of the ministry.  She is also one of mine and Kelly’s best friends.  This letter is written from a servant's heart.  Enjoy.

Thank you for your continued love and support.

Curt and Kelly VanEkeren

Hello, my name is Rosa Chavez.  I want to tell you something about what I have experienced in this ministry.

I am one of the people who have been blessed with this noble work, and I am very grateful for changing my life and the life of my family. I know the need for families to have a decent home to live in and also the importance of not having one.  Families that do not have the resources to repair a roof or do not have a floor, or simply live in very small houses made with pieces of wood in which they are not protected from cold or heat.

Thanks to the generous people who with their donations made this mission possible year after year, blessing humble families with the construction of a new house and the delivery of food and other basic necessities.  This, in order that they live better and keep in mind that this blessing is only a reflection that God loves us and wants us to live with dignity. Throughout this ministry that Curt and Kelly have led with love and dedication, I have been able to attest to how great God is, as they have made it possible for humble families to be blessed, but there are families waiting for His blessing and who need help.

God gives the privilege of serving, and it is very comforting to look at a house that is being finished and to see the family with tears in their eyes of gratitude for feeling the emotion of having a new home and above all, giving thanks to God.  Of course, all this is not possible without your help, without the generosity that your heart has, and the desire to serve those most in need.

I encourage you to continue with this ministry, and continue living with this great life experience.  The families of Mexico will thank you.  Thank you for contributing your help to the ministry.  God bless you.
