1 Samuel 17:32-37  32 David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.”
33 Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”
34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”

Hello Friends,

It's starting to feel like summer is ushering itself out and bringing in the beauty of fall. Along with the changes of the seasons, comes changes in the area of ministry. We had a great summer of travel and fundraising. We were able to get some small projects done, and keep in touch with all the students as well. Looks like we will have another full year of home builds. Out of the 7-8 months planned for the builds, 4 are already filled. One of the first groups will be coming in the middle of October. If you or someone you know would like to come and build a home, give us a call for open dates.

We have four university graduates this year. There are two ladies graduating with degrees in psychology. One student will be graduating with a degree in international trade, and another has actually been recruited and hired before he receives his diploma. The other graduate will have a degree in law, and is currently teaching school locally. One of our graduates from 2 years ago is training at the Police Academy, and will graduate from the Academy in November, hoping to enter into the police school to become a detective.

This year was going to be a huge hurdle for us with the budget we had for all the students. We are happy to announce as of last week, all the students are covered for tuition for another year. We have been blessed to have Moses and Angelica Leon come alongside us and take on some of the student ministry responsibility. Both are retired college professors and have brought some great ideas to make the program much better. Some of the ideas are already in place, but many will be implemented with incoming students. We are so blessed to have them take over much of the responsibility. This past Sunday, we had a Student Meeting and discussed obstacles in our life. Moses used the illustration of David facing Goliath, and I saw how appropriate it was in many of their lives. These students face obstacles that we can't even imagine.
We discussed our Christmas outreach this year. We have several alumni now that are out of the program and doing real life. Some now have kids of their own. I looked across the room and remembered playing soccer with them when they were younger, and I was younger too. They didn't have whiskers back then, and now they are sitting in the meetings with mustaches and beards. So, we are going to have an alumni-family-kids-Mom and Dad fun Christmas party, celebrating Jesus' birth. The focus will be on the students and their young families. Who knows, some of these little ones could be in the program soon. The ministry house and courtyard will be transformed into a winter wonderland. If you would like to help with the financials to make this happen, we would be very appreciative. Donations can be mailed to: Casa Homes of Hope, PO Box 4671, Yuma, AZ 85365 or visit our website at christiansinmexico.org

We have several prayer requests:

We are looking for a younger couple to come alongside us and mentor, with the hope to bring in a younger generation to carry on the ministry.

For the students graduating and looking for jobs.

For health and patience for the upcoming, busy season.

Being faithful to the job God has given us.

Thank you for your prayers and your faithful partnership with us, which enables us to continue reaching out to our friends In San Luis with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
